Draft for Osmia, LLC post-formation launch. Until Osmia, LLC is fully approved and ready for public use, this policy should be treated as a pre-release legal draft for private testing and transition planning.
Mastery Monitor is a local-first desktop application for teachers to track standards-based mastery, assignments, scores, reteach groups, interventions, goals, and related classroom workflows. Mastery Monitor is developed and provided by Osmia, LLC.
Classroom and student data stored locally
Mastery Monitor stores classroom data locally on the user's device in a local database file. This may include student names or identifiers, class rosters, assignments, assessment information, scores, standards-tracking records, reteach groups, intervention records, notes, teacher-created goals, reflections, imported files, and related records.
Osmia, LLC does not receive this classroom/student data as part of normal app use. Mastery Monitor does not automatically upload student names, rosters, scores, assignments, standards progress, intervention records, or classroom databases to Osmia, LLC.
Users are responsible for securing their own devices, local database files, exports, backups, and any files they choose to import into or export from Mastery Monitor.
Limited internet features
Mastery Monitor may connect to the internet for limited operational purposes, including license activation, license status checks, offline activation support when a school network blocks normal activation, and version/update checks.
These requests may include license key or license status, activation date or renewal status, app version, device or installation identifier, basic technical information needed to operate licensing and update services, timestamp, IP address, or server log information automatically created by the service provider. These internet features are not intended to transmit student/classroom records to Osmia, LLC.
Crash logs and diagnostic files
Mastery Monitor may generate local diagnostic or crash logs on the user's device to help troubleshoot errors. These logs are not automatically transmitted to Osmia, LLC.
A user may choose to download, review, redact, and voluntarily send a crash log, screenshot, sample file, or other support material to Osmia, LLC for troubleshooting. Crash logs are not designed to collect student data, but users should review logs and support materials before sending them.
Users are responsible for removing student personally identifiable information unless they are authorized to share it under their school or district policies. Osmia, LLC does not intentionally request student education records for ordinary support.

Support emails and voluntary communications
If a user contacts Osmia, LLC for support, feedback, beta testing, licensing, or account assistance, Osmia, LLC may receive the information the user chooses to provide, such as name, email address, school or district affiliation if provided, license information, issue descriptions, screenshots, logs, sample files, or other voluntarily provided attachments.
Osmia, LLC uses this information to respond to support requests, improve the software, manage beta testing, and operate licensing or customer service workflows.
Data sharing

These providers may process limited technical, account, payment, or support information as needed to provide those services.
Osmia, LLC may disclose information if required by law, to protect the security or integrity of Mastery Monitor, to enforce license terms, or with the user's consent.

Users should consult their school or district data privacy officer before entering student information or sending support materials if they are unsure whether their use is permitted.
Children's privacy
Mastery Monitor is intended for use by teachers and schools, not directly by students or children. Students should not create accounts with Osmia, LLC or contact Osmia, LLC directly through the app or website.
